SGT Dennis Oliver - End of Watch

Sergeant Dennis Oliver died on 10/02/2020 after contracting COVID-19 as the result of a presumed exposure while on duty.  Sgt Oliver served the department for over 17 years.  He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M University - Texarkana prior to being hired in 2003 as a Police Officer.  During his career he served as the department firearms instructor and rose through the ranks to Police Corporal and Police Sergeant.  He obtained Master Peace Officer certification, Police Instructor certification, Emergency Care Attendant certification and over sixty (60) commendations and awards.  He was the cornerstone of the department's community policing model and will be greatly missed by all.  He is survived by his wife and two sons.
